Indeed, go heat some water, as Dr. Park would say. I think it would be more accurate to describe Newman in terms that he believes he is an instrument of god. Such beliefs unfortunately tend to produce fertile breeding grounds for some of the most interesting conflicts among mankind throughout history since my "instrument" has to be bigger than your "instrument." If there is the lightest doubt about the advertised "measurements" then it's time to cut the opposition down a few pegs. The ends always justify the means when one has convinced themselves they do god's bidding. This is not to be misconstrued in any shape or manner that I believe Newman is planning some kind of jihad against the established scientific establishment. It DOES however, IMO, explain Newman's consistent behavior, particularly his complete lack of cooperation in responding to the most basic requests for accurate power measurements. To comply would likely cause Newman to confront the disquieting suspicion that maybe his god had been too-timing him all along. Please note the specific use of the phrase: "his god."
