Howdy Jed,

There are an increasing number of highly gifted children being recruited by certain private super schools in the USA. One such school is St.Johns in Houston Texas. This super school, grades thru 12 has some 600 gifted youth with IQ's that are difficult to measure. The school is just one of many that are well endowed and have all the resources and faculty for working one on one with these youth. The students come from a cross section of cultures and ethnic backgrounds. To sit in the 4th grade classroom on grandparents day is an experience to observe how advanced this environment is compared to my public school days. Granted that history demonstrates and confirms your statements regarding the north but these super schools are beginning so skew academia as it was known. The challenge is become how the universities can adjust to meet the challenges presented by these students.
