Indeed, one would think rapid acceleration combined with the alleged
size of the object, it should have exhibited a distinct audible trail.
Curiously, this is nothing new. Many UFOs that have been witnessed to
accelerate, seemingly instantly, to tremendous speeds remain oddly
silent.

At present I don't think the projection technology theory is a viable
one. I don't think it adequately explains why starlight was seen to be
occluded by the object. That was how the investigators determined the
apparent 900 feet diameter of the object - by the stars that were
eclipsed by something opaque.
