Several people began building replicas. Unfortunately after 5 months, nobody (including the original implementor) has yet to produce a completely distict copy that demonstrates the same behavior. The original designer claims to have a second device, but needs to reuse some of the components from the original to reproduce the desired effects.
It would be very interesting to know what the "unreplicable components" are. Any clues as to which components are the "special" ones?
I'd guess it's the particular magnets, but I suppose it could be something else, like some particular pieces of material used as shields.
