Ever wonder how UV plays a role in the sun's productive release of light energy.. well.. err.. heat.. err.. radiance.. err. Whay do you suppose that is eminated by the sun? A prepetual motion machine on the order of a "Rube Goldberg".. or.... hmmm. Could we be examining

Have you ever heard the story about growing plants in the dark? You place a solar collector in the sun and run a wire to a metallic plate over the plants, which are in the basement. It was reported that they grow.

Reported by who? Got a reference?

Since chlorophyll responds to two frequency bands, both in visible light, and since chlorophyll is the material plants use to transduce light energy into chemical energy (in the form of bound electrons in an above ground state which can be used to push chemical reactions "up the energy hill") it would be remarkable indeed if they could grow "in the dark" using only RF frequencies or lower.

Hence, a reference would be interesting.

NB -- As an aside, it might be possible (and it wouldn't even be all that surprising if it worked) to grow plants in the dark by feeding them sugar water. Plants normally run on sugar manufactured in the leaves, and there's plausible evidence that some plants grow better if watered with a sugar solution. Never heard of anyone trying to grow them in the dark that way, though (unless the folks with the metal plate in the cellar were also trying something along this line).
