Well, I signed up and posted the following, which I may regret at some later date.
Jones DoE should drop hot fusion... like a hot potato ;-) Hot fusion has been a gigantic boondoggle. At least $ 25 billion has been wasted on this dead-end street, with little to show - except more false promises of success "in ten more years." It will never be an economical proposition and is not significantly 'cleaner'' than fission. The cost of electricity from ITER, even if perfected, will be double or more the cost of renewables, like wind and solar. The proponents of that wasteful money-grab are behind the vilification of valid alternatives. Hundreds of peer-reviewed papers are available on the LENR-CANR.org website. LENR is a valid alternative to hot fusion; despite claims otherwise, and most of the hot fusion budget, if not all of it, in the coming years should be shifted over to valid alternatives. The recent ICCF14 in DC was an eye-opener. Look at the work of Celani in Ialy and Arata-Zhang in Japan. The USA is getting left in the dust by other countries in this subfield - due to the ingrained ingrained cronyism at DoE and their false faith in hot fusion. Time to clean house and move-on !
