On the other hand, if the phenomenon produced a natural amplifer and not an ionospheric oscillator, then N. Tesla's "World System" might supply far more energy than was being broadcast by his transmitters.

Or perhaps the transmitter itself would simultaneously act as a receiver, if the freq happened to be at one of the Shumann resonances. The Earth would focus the entire output of the ionosphere back to the location of the transmitter, which would unexpectedly keep running even with switches turned off, but perhaps not before it set the town's generator on fire.
