That was a partial message in response to a private e-mail. I meant to copy it to Vortex but it is supposed to include more text, as follows --
A friend wrote to me: You do realize, of course, that your good buddy Kirk Shannahan is so >> obsessed with cold fusion that he reads this list? >> > > Yes! I saw once that he quoted a message I uploaded to Vortex. It is a > laugh and a half. > > Did you see his comment at Dylla's article? He is losing it!! > Quoting Shanahan's comment in full: "You're right in saying that cold fusion researchers, aka cold fusioneers, are 'mistaken'. They consistently ignore the readly available conventional explanations for their collection of anomalies, and refuse to do anything but interpret them in light of some mysterious nuclear reaction(s). The problem today is that while the mainstream decided the issue was settled and over long ago, the dedicated fanatic believers have persisted, and today, they have become more vocal than ever. With no one to voice the opposition, they have convinced many that there is none. To paraphrase Edmund Burke, 'All it takes for pseudoscience to prosper is for real scientists to do nothing.'" So, the opposition begins to imagine they are an oppressed minority? I doubt this indicates we are winning, but it sure looks like we are getting under their skin. Good! This reminds me of the "war on Christmas" right-wing fanatics have been squawking about lately. They think that no one has any right to disagree with them, or even to poke fun at them and their beliefs. This guy Dylla is a gutless wonder. He will not upload comments from prominent researchers. He chopped out the technical content from one of the few messages he did upload. He publishes a message from Shanahan, a certified fruitcake. And he is afraid to tell his readers that LENR-CANR.org exists! No doubt he is afraid they will read original source materials and see that he is wrong. The world is full of people like him, who call themselves scientists and yet who betray scientific ethics in a heartbeat rather than admit error, or to protect their own turf. Frankly, these people disgust me. - Jed
