Terry, what I tried to communicate, maybe a bit aggressively, was that,

Yeah, I'm afraid that was mostly me and Abd yelling at each other. Sorry about that -- apologies to everybody; that went on *much* too long.

Step 1 -- make point.
Step 2 -- beat point to death.
Step 3 -- go back to step (2)

What I haven't yet seen happen on vo- is a bunch of people calling
eachother out as being paid by this or that company or corporation to
advertise their products in a "good light".

Yow, I hope not!

Nobody here pulling that stuff, or accusing anybody else of that. The list is moderated, at least to the extent that spammers are kept away.

If anybody gets rude, tell 'em, and they should apologize. (I certainly will apologize, and stop, if it's me that goes over the line.)

I wanted to say, please don't - they're just a bunch of pictures taken
with shaky hands, by someone who barely knows the shape of a toroidal
coil from the shape of a pick-up coil.

:-)

Toroidal coil shaped like bagel. Pickup coil shaped like lump of cream cheese which goes on bagel, IIRC.

Let's just say the choice of *toroidal* coils may have helped reduce the back EMF from the motor to a very small value. As such, it's closely tied to their claim that all energy goes into resistive heating, and therefore all the torque energy coming out is "free" or "OU". The toroid largely contains the B field, which means you won't be paying much to set it up, so CEMF is likely to be very small (but I haven't worked out the details or tried any experiments; that's just how it looks to me like it should work).

(Done some reading over at VOTB regarding Sean's recent demo/video -- it was enlightening, and in fact the bias over there isn't all one way.)

Depends on how good it is, and whether Bill Beaty likes the tunes.

I usually work with the sound turned off so it won't do me much good.
