Jones, Scott, I like where this is going, in addition to Jones' suggestion
[snip] Why not start with nano-powder - compress it mildly and heat to the level of diffusion bonding, and thereby forget about leaching? [/snip] How about mixing the hydrogen with an inert gas and then circulating it through your powder so we limit the potential for combustion even if the powder reaches pyrophoric dimensions? It also appears that a tungsten heater/catalyst is often involved with producing the anomaly so throw that on the wish list also. I think the circulation may be key to concentrating the interaction with external geometry vs the pores in the particle. The pores may be more vigorus but circulation is limited, The external cavities formed between particles are less destructive and more repeatable due to circulation. The goal is to find a self assembly method with powder that avoids the huge milling costs involved with the Haisch Moddel prototype. We would not get the insulating layers between cavities like the H-M prototype but would greatly improve "excursion" range in the opposite (1/137) direction. H-M are limited to the 100nm mechanical limit for milling so their fractional hydrogen would not be as vigorous. Regards Fran
