I was grousing about Prof. Rees and his comments on the BBC. I wrote 
to a friend:

"How on earth does someone like that manage to become the President 
of the Royal Society, Master of Trinity College and Astronomer Royal 
-- all rolled into one, no less."

His piquant response:

"I think you are missing a point Jed.  If he did not have these views 
he would be none of the above."

As they say in the UK, too right!
