I was thinking of cosmology at the time but this is sweet. The interesting thing about helium in a Casimir cavity is that since it cannot easily form bonds with another atom, it should be easier to "pump the Lamb shift with vacuum energy". That seems to be a major insight of the Haisch Moddel patent, if it is true, but is there any experimental proof from them? In fact this makes a lot of sense, the more you think about it, except that helium is used as a control for some deuterium experiments ! Thanks for bringing it up, since among other things it shows us a way to explain both excess heating and excess cooling in nanopowder. The later is difficult to explain as a nuclear reaction, obviously - but excess cooling does happen. In fact, the infamous A. Rossi is said to have "backed into" the field of LENR when he was investigating the strong cooling effect of nickel nanopowder in a TEC cooling device. that would be under the mysterious DoE grant which he apparently never finished, since no report is available, due to a suspicious "fire" and his sudden absence from the country. Hmmm .. BTW another real irony here is that when using helium as a control for a deuterium experiment, and in circumstances where, if it should experience anomalous cooling, it makes a deuterium experiment look better than it is - for calibration of excess heating ! I suggest that this paper: "ECE Theory of the Lamb Shift in Atomic Hydrogen and Helium" By Myron Evans could hold many answers. http://aias.us/documents/uft/paper86.pdf From: Roarty, Francis X Jones, The Haisch Moddel patent uses noble gases with a method they term Casimir Lamb Pinch but I think this is just another name for fractional state since they also require a Casimir environment to produce the effect. They are hoping to avoid the need to disassociate the molecules (reinforcing my pet theory that only monatomic atoms can translate to fractional values). They are still capitalizing on the same force and IMHO they must achieve at least 1 fractional state if they expect to rectify any energy. I don't think you can "pinch" any energy from just approaching a fractional state but rather you need to have matter in two different fractional states before it becomes possible to rectify any energy from the normally chaotic ZPE. "Below ground state helium" turns up zero hits on google. which is curious . in light of the assertion that 'physics is almost complete'. Has this possibility not been addressed adequately ? IOW .does anyone recall if this (putative) species of fractional helium has been mentioned by Mills/BLP or by others? . and if not, why not? It could be a better candidate for a portion of 'dark matter,' if it existed in 'deep redundancy,' than the usual suspects. Matter of fact, it is fairly illogical, as Mills asserts, to suggest that 'hydrino-hydride' can make up a proportion of dark matter, yet 'heliinos' or pycnohelium, do not exist. Helium is the second most abundant element in the universe, accounting for 24-25% of the elemental mass of our galaxy (aside from dark matter). I intentionally phrased that statement in this way because the normal view is that hydrogen is more prevalent (90+%) in the number of atoms, is misleading in terms of actual mass, and ultimately in terms of relative importance. If your intent is to make a point, then helium is clearly the most neglected atomic-molecule in the universe, and if it was to be a preferential product of 'redundancy' who is to say that it is not more prevalent than hydrogen, given that dark matter itself is the wild-card in terms of total mass . and/or that LERN, as a QM reaction operating over billions of years, would favor pycnohelium "as the end of the line", over any other species. :-) Jones
