This is a fascinating article. The article reveals the stupidity shown by prevailing political agendas that continuously backed R&D development of uranium reactors (over thorium) primarily because everyone was more interested in the ability to develop the bomb. The ability to produce peaceful energy was considered a side benefit, more or less. Had we had the foresight to develop thorium-based nuclear reactors decades ago over uranium-based reactors this planet might not be in the terrible mess we are in today. Makes me wanna cry. FWIW, about a year ago Kiplinger wrote a brief comment in their weekly newsletter mentioning the fact that there is now serious interest in pursuing the "benefits" of thorium based energy technology. They mentioned the fact that from what they were told the production of thorium "energy" won hands-down when compared the production of traditional uranium energy. They also mentioned the fact that it was impossible to build a bomb with thorium. I hope they are right. In the meantime, we wait for word from Mills and Co., as well as promising developments in the CF community. Any time now, you guys.
