Esa,
The Irish connection is intriguing but that's not all. Here is a possible detail which could tie it all together as a specific omen, and add to the mystery. James Joyce was of the opinion that ancient Phoenicia was tied to early Celts in many ways, due to seafaring. There is the whole mystique of the 'red paint' "Maritime Archaic" pre-culture that extends to the New World, and Newgrange does have indicia of red paint - and was built before the pyramids, and could be of Phoenician origin. This ties it back to the Eastern Mediterranean. In that span of 5000 years, apparently this is the very first time for the sun and moon predawn alignment at Newgrange ! (i.e. that it happens exactly at dawn at that precise location). This means that all of the other eclipse times, it was not at dawn. Here is gist of this article: "This kind of [sun, moon at dawn] connection is unbelievably rare, Prof Ray said. "It would not have occurred since Newgrange was built." He would not be drawn on whether the juxtaposition carried some portent, some special omen about the future. "I don't do astrology," he said. The passage grave at Newgrange was built 5,200 years ago even before the pyramids. It was aligned so that a chamber deep underground lights up with sunlight just as the dawn sun brakes the horizon on the morning of December 21st. It was a remarkable achievement for those who built it using horse cart and hand given it required thousands of tonnes of rock and earth." END of quote From: Esa Ruoho * it gets better. as in, Newgrange. http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2010/1220/1224285916320.html what if this is what Newgrange was designed to do? what will appear in the 3 basins that "receive" the light? Well, it looks like the event itself will be broadcast on Irish television - and will only have to wait less than a day to find out. If I had to make a far-out prediction, based on the builders of Newgrange being Phoenician, it would be . . ta da . high tide in Canaan :-) . which itself has a deeper meaning in light of the ongoing conflict in that part of the World.
