It now becomes possible to demonstrate such a proposition, where formerly the
problematic distinctions of how such a problem should be approached deemed the
subject a spurious supposition. The "power factor correction" principle only
applies to interactions involving source frequency, and the Tesla Coil system
itself is the manufacture of high frequencies by arc gap means, so the
essential idea of applying a power factor correction to the inputs is like
comparing apples to oranges as far as magnitudes are concerned. Typically a
transformer primary can be power factor corrected by having an equal opposite
capacitive reactance in parallel, but two varying secondary conditions exist
whereby this reactive balance itself is determined value wise, either the
condition of secondary arc short or its open circuit capacitive charging
condition. Thus to sensibly make a power factor correction means that for these
two circumstances two different capacitive values
will be needed for the power factor correction to be applied, thus a medium or
average value might be chosen instead, and in principle this negates the whole
concept of making a power factor correction for this situation, unless a means
of applying instantaneous capacitive changes for the reactance changes of the
circuit during arcing were devised. Now this description involves powering the
circuit by line coupled means, in which case simply means that the source is
directly connected to the primary of the ferromagnetic transformer, whose
secondary outputs are being momentarily shorted by design to produce a high
frequency oscillation. Thus that primary sees a widely changing impedance, and
thus to be truly power factor corrected it would need to be matched by its
mirror image "widely changing capacitive reactance" to establish balance and
reduction of input current. This why such a power factor correction is deemed
impossible, by the requirements
thereof.
Here then extenuating circumstances can be shown. This becomes a virtual
exploration into unknown territory. Two new factors can be introduced which
changes the map dramatically. First a method of introducing the power input
which itself establishes the primary arc gap process, instead of this process
being directly connected to the source by ferromagnetic transformer means,
instead the process is powered through the air by resonant air core
transformations. This means the former fluxations of demand current on
secondary short, and the opposite function now employed of using series
resonant voltage rise to engage arcing: these two opposite demands are made
more identical in current volumes, and it is speculated then that such an arc
gap is less violent or sporiadic in its display because of the reduced
differences of amperage demand negotiated by the q factor of the circuit. Now
when the short demand is supplied between the secondary LC loop, it is
no longer a true short but is current limited to the individual reactance
present on either side of the short. Essentially then it is a new kind of air
core powered arc gap, with a different display and function. It is this
"function" that then gets reflected back to its source as that sources amperage
demand.
The second VERY special consideration in the totality of the designed
system is the following. The capacity employed in usage for the second
interphasal "source frequency resonance" will be the SAME capacity employed in
the tesla coil primary. This means that the entire system is constructed on the
basis of that capacity being an invariant quantity, thus once the source
frequency resonant capacity is determined by design, the entire tesla coil
system built around it must use that same capacity in its higher frequency
vibration. Here then unique arguments can be brought forth concerning a new
interpretation of what the power factor correction consists of in the new
scenario. Now a single capacity is simultaneously being used for both the
source frequency vibration AND the high frequency one, so we might say they
have become coupled in a sence, where formerly these extenuating circumstances
were not present. Then the subject of introducing a power
factor correction to just one reactance at the source frequency must also
apply to the high frequency case. In any case I have finally engineered
examples whereby a proof of concept may be applied by looking at two case
examples, the first being a non resonant primary assembly and the second one
being a resonant one. The convincing proof becomes what the term "power factor
correction" itself consists of. It primarily means applying resonant rise of
amperage to the situation whereby less amperage entering the circuit does the
same job as a larger amperage amount formerly enabled. The TC coil circuit
can be operated in BOTH circumstances, and the efficiencies of deliveries
compared. I will next show the operation of the primaries in non resonant
condition in the next you tube video entitled "3rd Embodiment of the Wireless
Tesla Coil"
