I did not realize this until a few days ago, but several inoculations are recommended for people traveling to India. Fortunately, I had time to get them, today. The recommendations depend on your medical history and previous inoculations. In my case, I needed hepatitis A and B, tetanus (dpt) and pills to ward off malaria. Apparently there is now an inoculation for malaria, which is good news, but you don't need it for a short trip.
Hepatitis A and B are now in one dose, with booster shots 1 month and 6 months later for lifetime protection. The first shot will be effective in a week. - Jed
