"Rossi: The E-Cat, after 15, 20 years of expected life is just a piece of steel, lead, ceramic, boron, with residual nickel powder inside. All recyclable. No radioactive waste left, of course." If it contains boron then the primary reaction may be:- p + B11 => 3 He4 + 8.7 MeV Because the energy is divided up over three alpha particles, they are usually fairly low energy, which would go a long way toward explaining the lack of serious radiation. (A 2 MeV alpha particle simply doesn't have the energy to produce spallation neutrons). The p-B11 reaction is known as perhaps the cleanest fusion reaction around. (BTW note that he didn't include copper in the list. ;) Regards, Robin van Spaandonk http://rvanspaa.freehostia.com/Project.html
