..that depends on what the water is used for, and how much you can sell it for. However thermal desalination should work well in combination with electricity generation, particularly if only the "waste" heat from the generation process is used to desalinate water, iso being dumped into the atmosphere by those huge curved concrete cooling towers we are all so used to seeing.
