Hmm. A quick search reveals discussions about this back on Mar. 11, so it

A teraton explosion? Seems rather far fetched that something like that could
happen by natural process. Marvin Martian's Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space
Modulator was apparently a little more impressive than Duck Dodgers thought.
Either that or Yog Sothoth and friends were simply having a BBQ and things got
out of hand.

Alternatively...

It was "Them" (They).

180 million years ago, there were Martians. The civilization utilized all parts
of the electromagnetic spectrum for communication, active planetary astronomy,
and perhaps even called out to the neighboing stars to see if another
civilization of equal or greater technological advancement existed.
"They" were listening.
There are no Martians.

Fast forward to present day. The new kids on the Sun's block utilize all parts
of the electromagnetic spectrum for anything and everything, and have called
out to whoever or whatever might be out there...

Sleep well.
