(Underline in original) That sounds conclusive to me. Academic scientists do not write strongly affirmative, underlined sentences unless they really, really mean what they say. If they had doubts they would use weasel words such as: "tentatively ruled out" or "it does not seem plausible that . . ." Furthermore, there are hundreds of other cold fusion reports with equally affirmative statements, such as EPRI's: "This work confirms the claims of Fleischmann, Pons, and Hawkins of the production of excess heat in deuterium-loaded palladium cathodes at levels too large for chemical transformation." Frankly, since all of these other experiments were definitely positive, it makes no sense to suppose Rossi may not be. Replication is important. This is a replication, and the previous works lend strong support to it. Rossi's s/n ratio is extraordinarily high and his methods are not open to rational doubt. Apart from the remote possibility that Rossi, Levi, Kullander and the others are engaged in fraud, there is no reason to doubt these results. - Jed
