I corrected the run time.

The time to drain goes as  1/orifice_area  * sqrt(column_height)
1/4 is the radius -- 1/2cm diameter

Hmmm .... since the outlet is still open cool air will be sucked past the temperature probe, cooling it.
When it's completely drained this flow will stop, and the thermal mass will cause the air to heat up again.
