The 600C value is not impossible to believe. Rossi has suggested that his reactor cores operate within the ball park of this temperature for many months. Perhaps he is now attempting to make a low thermal impedance contact to the chamber so that he can directly tap this source. There would be advantages to not dealing with the coolant issues too directly.
