Increasing temperatures will affect how nuclear and coal-fired electrical
plants will be operated in the future.  It may be necessary to build new
plants near salt water.  The anticipated rise in heat in effluent cooling
water can be expected to cause "thermal pollution," disrupting fresh-water
ecosystems.

The Economist recommends fracking as an energy source and its extension to
China, Australia, Argentina and Europe.  Previously the New York Times has
suggested that even industry insiders wonder whether shale gas extraction

An article published online in Nature describes a significant increase in
14C in tree rings from an event dating to around AD 775.  The normal
explanations for such spikes -- supernovae and solar flares -- are
problematic in this instance.
