The formations which trap natgas just happen to trap all other gasses. A history lesson from ACS: http://goo.gl/2OYvu Helium is a natural product of decay of uranium and thorium and is constantly produced at a rate slower than consumption. LHC alone took 5000 tons of He, a years' production and wasted 120 tons when it leaked. If Dr. Storms is right, we might produce helium from hydrogen in his cracks.
