It makes no difference how up-to-date you make it, any room full of experimental or high-tech equipment will look quaint 20 years later. To see how this works when it is done deliberately, see movies such as "Apollo 13," "The Dish" or "Fat Man and Little Boy." They went to considerable effort to make equipment temporally correct. I love the computer in "The Dish" -- which is a fine movie in many ways.
