I don’t think this experiment would fit into that explanation though, would it? This was a coherent laser source at a specific energy (aka, frequency) of 1.5kev. If you actually apply heat as in joule heating, the energy covers a wide range of frequencies. There is a limited amount at any one narrow band, but all of the bands have at least a small amount.
