if well made, and it seems , the smart power meter will integrate intantaneous real power, thus will not be bothered by phase shift... (that is the same job as shoul have done the Rossi and hydrofusion meters to look less ridiculous)
the problem explained is just that new meter count watt that were ignored. the would be winner and loser, since the electric companies will have less need to increase price, because some hidden consumption will be paid now... anyway like in industrial resorts, the company may decide to bill the reactive, and deforming power too, because it consume unbilled energy on the transport line. it will be an incentive to use machine which are phase compensated, and filtered. real price for annoyance trigger incentive for mitigation... anyway if they don't do it today it is because it have low impact for home consumer, and that all the individual deformation and phase shift are compensated more or less, or can be compensated cheaply by the company at the local transformer.... 2012/12/10 Terry Blanton <[email protected]> > Certainly, improved response time would increase the accuracy of the > actual power measured.
