Two days before the opening of the Summer Olympics here in Atlanta, it is likely that terrorists launched a missile from a boat off the NY coast and took down TWA Flight 800. It was discussed extensively here (and everywhere); but, few here believed the explanation that a tank of jet fuel exploded due to a spark.

Oh, and I believe it was a presidental re-election year.
