This is not even slightly mysterious. If you had any idea difficult it is, you would be amazed that the experiments are as reproducible as they are. If you understood anything about the effect you would realize that the COP makes no difference; no one is trying to improve it at present; and it would be a waste of time and resources to do so. - Jed
