Yeah, I have a solidoodle.  Just cost me $599 :)  I had to fix it a couple
of times (blown hot end), but it's fun getting my hands dirty.

If you call revolutionizing the prototyping industry "revolutionary" ..
then, yeah, OK 3d printers are revolutionary.

Really what is revolutionizing is all the automation being done which is
shortening the time between CAD models and manufactured output.

"3d printers" is just one step in that shortening.

The reality is that blow mold injection is still the way to do it and
likely will remain so for quite some time.
