This problem will be eliminated with indoor food factories.

They just opened a food factory in Fukushima prefecture, near enough to the
reactors that people are afraid to eat locally grown produce. I think the
only source of significant contamination with a food factory would be the
water. I assume this can be filtered. I think most of the contamination
from the explosions is in the soil by now.

Unfortunately, new contamination is getting into the ocean.

They set up the factory to boost employment and keep young people around. I
think they said the town is 40% deserted.
