Sounds like Inverse Rydberg Rubidium suddenly forming. :) If so, this could reveal the trigger that is needed to convert Rydberg H into IRH, with the release of hundreds of eV / atom. Once the energy is removed, new Hydrogen introduced and promoted to RH, then we start all over again with the next cycle. Power output regulated by the frequency of the cycling.
