Scary indeed. I was living within 20 miles of the point of the bomb drop. We had no idea that anything of this nature had taken place at the time. At school we had the usual drills, but that was in expectation of an attack from an enemy, not our own forces.
I guess I owe my life to the guys that designed that last safety switch. Nothing like this should ever happen again.
