The future is becoming the present very quickly. In this case, on one hand, the cheetah robot makes it clear that it will be possible to track down suspected criminals with tireless, relentless efficiency. You can evade the law for a period of time, but the robots will eventually collect you. On the other hand, the motor sounds like a lawnmower motor and seems a little silly. A quiet electric motor would be more intimidating.
If the thing were a little more stable or had six legs (and less exhaust), you can imagine putting a mount on it so that someone could ride it around difficult mountain terrain, where a normal vehicle could not be used.
