For this kind of scientist, independent replication is not necessary, because they have sufficient skill to carry out an experiment whose results one can trust. About the recent milestone, if I may be allowed to move the goalposts a little: now the challenge is to get continuous OU operation, producing enough energy to recuperate the investment in hardware and people operating the system.
