*2/16/2014, 4:00 p.m.*

As of 4:00 p.m., we have restored service to 700,000 customers since the
beginning of the storm early Wednesday morning. The remaining few
customers able to take service are located in the Augusta and Evans area.

As crews finalize repair work in the remaining trouble locations,
restoration times can be found on our outage map. For details, zoom into
specific locations on the map.

This gives you a feel for how vulnerable the electric power distribution
grid is.

Actually, at present the map shows 95 outages affecting 231 customers. I
think this more than a normal day, so I guess they are still mopping up
from the storm. At the moment, 36 of the outages affecting 48 customers are
in Augusta. Augusta was hardest hit by the storm, so I assume these are the
last to be mopped up. As you see, most of them affect only 1 customer.

Atlanta was down to 0 outages yesterday. There are now 19 outages affecting
36 customers. I guess they have that many on an ordinary day. Some of the
outages have notes such as "A tree has fallen on the power line. We are
aware of the situation." They list the time by which they hope to have the
problem fixed. This would be helpful for people without electricity except
that many of them cannot access the Internet.
