The Luz solar thermal plants have been in operation in the Mojave producing 354 MW since 1984. They are still working. The mirrors still reflect, despite 30 years of dirt, wear and tear. The people who ran Luz were involved in this new company, bringing their know-how. It is absurd to say that solar thermal cannot work in harsh desert areas. It is absurd to think that the engineers have not devised cost-effective, modern ways to clean the glass. - Jed
