One doesn't need to attribute something to someone if it's a commonly held
view and not particularly original.  None of the points that I have made in
this thread have been particularly original or deep or something to merit
the whole apparatus of formal attribution.  But it is true that I have not
been reading through entire threads before replying to individual posts.  I
will try to do this more.
