The theories that you recommend are predicated on the absorption of hydrogen into a metal lattice. This lattice confinement defines the positions of the nuclei that are to undergo fusion. In all cases these theories revolve around a positional CONFINEMENT involved of atoms to be proximate to the location of fusion.
In this system, there is no confinement of the deuterium atoms. They are outside of the nickel lattice because they are free floating in the gas envelope. Nickel does not absorb hydrogen like palladium does. In this system, the factor that causes fusion must be a projection of nuclear disruptive force that has nothing to do with confinement of a metal lattice. This system involves a projection of a long range magnetic force through some distance of space which irradiates free floating atoms of deuterium in a gas environment. That consideration is the only way that a free floating collection of deuterium atoms on a gas envelope can become a free floating collection of hydrogen protium atoms of double the atom count in a transmuted hydrogen envelope, Therefore, fission of deuterium gas into protium gas must be done by EMF projection of force. .
