Pete has a Mac so maybe he can help. I guess you have neither readline nor termios, so it's trying to use getch() from curses. Can you post the 'config.log' file that should have been created in the main build directory?
Can you grep for the getch() function somewhere, it should be in curses.h in the standard includes directory (is it /usr/include on OSX or something else?)
