Dear all,

we are planning to remove the bundled version of boost (aka
votca-boost) from Votca 1.3.

This is due to several reasons:
- votca-boost is a bit obsolete - it is based on boost 1.42 and most
distributions come with boost 1.48
- boost got more standard - all distribution have it, even AIX and
part of boost are in C++ 2011 standard
- boost installation got simpler:
<http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_49_0/more/getting_started/unix-variants.html#easy-build-and-install>
- it will make our build system cleaner and the tarballs smaller
- less maintenance for us - we are short on developers

So, if you have a strong opinion against the removal, speak up now.

Cheers,

Christoph
