Following the last Delegate Assembly resolution, the Professional Staff
Congress is supporting the ILWU May Day plan with antiwar/contract campaign
events of our own on as many campuses as we can this May Day. An impressive
Hunter teach-in being organized. We hope for events at Hunter, QC, BCC,
Brooklyn, BMCC, Hunter High School, and hopefully others like Hostos, York,
Staten Island, La Guardia, maybe others too. The P&J Committee is working on
extending the PSC May Day as widely as we can.

At Queens, Air Force ROTC recruiters will be on campus, so Ben Chitty is
writing a short text on the civilian devastation of modern air war to go with
an image from Guernica on one side of our flyer, while the other side is the
CUNY-wide PSC "Union May Day 2008" flyer. As a formal PSC chapter antiwar
committee, Queens anti-warriors have negotiated at labor-management meetings to
get a table next to the recruiters every time they show up. (This is one of
many good reasons to bring ad hoc campus antiwar committees up to the level of
formal committees of the union chapter working together with students.)
