An interesting first hand account via a phone interview on the JTA news
alert podcast, in which the scene is described at the National Cattle Congress
ICE temporary compound and the situation updated.
ICE and other Fed and State authorities rounded up 390 people at
Agriprocessors :
* roughly, 60 are solely being held are on immigration charges - and
have been released for further review and will remain free up to six months
* 30 or so released for humanitarian reasons
* about 306 people held on charges such as using false SS Numbers or
false ID's and are being processed and generally just being ordered to their
home country
The reporter, Ben Harris, describes a make shift "surreal" surroundings as
the temporary Federal Court is set in an old ball-room called the Electric
Park with pink neon lights and fairground smells and appearance and plus some
temporary trailers.
Note - there was no mention of drugs or other more serious crimes as was
hinted at by the Fed as justification and according to "anonymous" tips ...
