Tonight's topic is "Defensive computing: Information security for individuals". This presentation will discuss security and privacy for individuals in the context of current real-world threats. Topics will include the basic principles of information security, threat modeling, and practical approaches for developing a self-defense toolkit: minimizing tracking (cookies and click tracking), avoiding rogue hotspots, malware, and other threats to privacy and security. Our speaker tonight is Adam Reiser, a UC Berkeley graduate in physics and applied mathematics, who is currently working as a privacy and security consultant.
