BTW in a past discussion Don mentioned his favorite card (used to be a tulip)
is now the 3com card with the packet checksum in hardware.  

Again it's more an asthetic thing then something you would actually notice,
most the the reason mentioned was the elegance of the programming interface
made for an asthetically pleasing driver.
