MPI is the standard, try:

BPROC I'm guessing is using the same PID across different machines making
it easier to start, stop, suspend, resume and similar across a large
cluster.
Theres also projects to do shared memory over PCI which would be
kinda cool for certain kinds of applications.
I'm in the process of building a 20-64 node beowulf btw.
You might also be interested in pthreads which makes it easier
to use more then 1 cpu in a single box.
