i submit this piece of info to the collective:
xmcd didn't configure properly for me, or at least something didn't
configure properly for me. it wouldn't save cddb info. using strace, i
determined that the following directories weren't created when the package
was installed:
stat("/usr/share/xmcd/cddb/rock/a50e3f2f", 0xbffff280)
stat("/usr/share/xmcd/cddb/jazz/a50e3f2f", 0xbffff280)
stat("/usr/share/xmcd/cddb/blues/a50e3f2f", 0xbffff280)
stat("/usr/share/xmcd/cddb/newage/a50e3f2f", 0xbffff280)
stat("/usr/share/xmcd/cddb/classical/a50e3f2f", 0xbffff280)
stat("/usr/share/xmcd/cddb/reggae/a50e3f2f", 0xbffff280)
stat("/usr/share/xmcd/cddb/folk/a50e3f2f", 0xbffff280)
stat("/usr/share/xmcd/cddb/country/a50e3f2f", 0xbffff280)
stat("/usr/share/xmcd/cddb/soundtrack/a50e3f2f", 0xbffff280)
stat("/usr/share/xmcd/cddb/misc/a50e3f2f", 0xbffff280)
stat("/usr/share/xmcd/cddb/data/a50e3f2f", 0xbffff280)
note, these are the debian default directories. if you changed
/etc/xmcd/config.cfg or ~/.xmcd/config.cfg, they can be different from
above.
i was tired of always seeing "file save errors" everytime i put a disk in.
also, it's nice to have xmcd not have to go out and look up every single
disk. it's faster to get it off the hd. :)
ok, problem fixed. time to move on and figure out why flashwave is
appearing twice on my netscape plugin page.
