Thank's for the comments. I did hide ~/mc/ini and /etc/mc/mc.ini,
and then I even tried to hide /etc/mc altogether and nothing
seem'd to work.
somehow I am starting to think that it's hardware related,
because it did the same thing back when i had RH, and it seems
to have just carried on over to Debian. I did however use the same
~/mc/ini files so maybe there is a setting in there that makes it
behave so stupid. I just don't know. The version is 4.5.42.
maybe I should just download the woody version and see what
that does.
Could you send that script again. I lost the mail somehow
(see what you get for playing with a system that you don't know)
where do I put this script, in the .forward file or .procmailrc?
