dear all,
first, i apologize for the crossposting, but wanted to reach everyone who
will be attending tonight's meeting where i'll be giving a short talk on
using DVD's under linux.
vox-announce should be the union of vox-tech and vox; unfortunately, it's
not. we haven't figured out how to do that with majordomo yet.
i made the extremely poor judgement to blow away suse on the machine that
i'll be giving the talk with and installing potato, a day before my talk.
there's always a period of time where a newly installed system has a bunch
of boo-boo's which you have to fix. not the least of which is that i found
that you need glibc 2.2 to compile css-auth and potato has 2.1. took me
almost two hours to figure that one out. :(
anyway, i'll be semi-prepared for the talk, but i may not have time to make
"slides". i'm still in the process of recompiling all the utilities and
making sure they work as expected. and installing any libraries that i
need to have along the way. even the ones that aren't available as packages
with potato. :-<
if you plan on attending the talk, can you at least glance at (perhaps print
out and bring with you) my linux dvd howto:
http://www.dirac.org/p/linux/linux-dvd-howto.txt
you can make it look nice by using enscript -B. :)
thanks.
pete (hoping that tonight goes over well)
