ssh: secure shell.  Works just like rsh (remote shell), except
auto-encrypts everything.
ssl: secure sockets layer.  The underlying secure protocol; handles stuff
like session key negotiation, etc.
kerberos: authentication mechanism.

Of course, I could be wrong.
